Today, my friends, I want to talk to you about balance. Want to talk to you about harmony in your life. Because sometimes when we are working our business, we can get out of balance in life, which is going to knock your business for a loop. When you are taking the time to get your sh** together, you are not hurting yourself. You are not wasting your time!
You’re in the right place if you want to know…
- What happens to you when YOU work eight hours, then you come home and you have to spend your what would normally be your recharge time working your side business.
- What happens to our BUSINESS when we are out of balance in life and business.
- When you Fall back into old habits what to do
- The higher level of stress on our lives when our work life balance is off.
- Why higher stress is not going to attract people to your business.
- When I knew I didn’t have my best self to offer my clients and my audience, I took time for personal growth.
- Why you cannot unleash your success if you’re overwhelmed.
When We Find Ourselves Out of Balance
We have this guilt that seeps in when take time away from our business for self care and relaxation. Our brain is always thinking about working our business because it is so important to us. We want to see it grow, and when we work a 9 to 5, we don’t always have the time to give it that we would like to.
I want to encourage you today to make sure you are taking time to find balance in your life.
Here is the thing, my friend, you are not wasting your time if you are having to get your shit together. You are not wasting your time if you are taking time for some self care or putting your family first.
It is not going to tank your business to make sure that you have adequate amounts of sleep and self care.
So let’s talk about this! Let’s talk about what happens to our business when we are out of balance in life and business.
Most of us here, we’re working a full time job. If you’re like me, you’re building your business on the side of a full time job, and you have a family that is active, that leaves you feeling like an Uber driver to your kids.

So what happens to our business when we don’t take time to keep it together?
Low Productivity
It’s going to look like you are spending time on activities that aren’t really going to make you the most money or give you the biggest bang for your buck.
Let’s say you come home from work dog tired. You barely can walk because your feet hurt. Your brain is like jelly. You can’t even form full, complete sentences. But you need to sit down and work your business for a couple of hours.
Well, friend, what’s your productivity going to be like when you’re in that mode? It’s going to be low. You’re going to get less done.
You may work, but writing that blog instead of taking you 30 minutes is going take an hour because you’re having trouble completing your sentences. You’re having trouble forming your thoughts.
Perhaps you’re trying to put together your social media posts for the week. Same thing happened. You’re having trouble coming up with ideas, you’re having trouble remembering the stories you want to tell because you are in low productivity mode because you’re tired.
This is normal. So what do you do? You gotta take some time to recharge. But before we get to how we can do those things, let’s talk about something else that happens.
Habits
The other thing that happens is you are find yourself out of balance. Maybe you’re spending too much time working your business and your day job, and you’re note not enough time with your family. When this happens, we start to fall back into old habits.
Maybe you have been working to put in place in your life and into your business success habits. Habits that are going to help propel your business forward, but they’re not automatic, yet. They are things you have to continually think about and practice.
Success habits like how you talk with people online, how you go about messaging with people to create conversations, in a way that is attractive and natural and honors the other person and yourself without being silly or sleazy. Right!
So what happens though, when we are rushing to do these things or we’re too tired or we are feeling guilt because we are not spending the time with our family or taking care of ourselves?
Instead of taking the time we need or having the thoughts that are going to propel us forward with the new habits, we will fall back into those old habits that are going to give us more of what we don’t want.
So, for example. Sometimes I have found myself doing this, and I’m sure you guys have to.
I feel like I need to” work” my business. So I sit down to work, but because I’m out of alignment, I’m not being who I need to be for success. I am not Being the High Performing Entrepreneur.
At times like this, I’m falling back into old habits. The first thing I might go do is check email, which is not going to be a productive thing to move my business forward. Vs. Finishing a conversation I already have going in messenger with someone or reaching out, making a post, reaching out to my email list about scheduling some one on one coaching practices, sharing my product with someone else.
Instead, I’m falling into old habits, into safe, secure things that don’t take much time and thought.
Stress
Another thing I want you to think about if you are keeping yourself out of balance by working too much of your business, working too much of your 9 to 5 job, and not taking the time for yourself or taking the time to recharge with your family, Is that we find ourselves in higher stress.
What happens is….even if you were working that job… Even if you are working your business and it is growing, but you are not taking time to care for yourself or to take time to be with your family, your mind is still thinking about it.
All the thoughts keep coming… “I need a little bit more sleep.”, “I really need to recharge.” I’m feeling starting to feel run down.” “My family’s doing this, and I would really like to be doing that with them.”
When those things happen, subconsciously we start feeling some stress. We start to feel we are torn between two things. We start struggling internally and building up that stress, which causes all kinds of chemical reactions in our body.
New here? Check out some of my previous high performer blogs.
Raise your hand if you’ve been there, right?
Who has not been there, especially moms, we know this feeling. It’s our normal.
But when you can control how much of this you feel and you can control how often you are feeling this friend, you are back in balance.
Think about it. This higher stress is not going to propel your business forward. Higher stress is not going to attract people to your business. Higher stress is not going to attract people to working the business and joining your team.
Why would they want to come be stressed with you?
Think about it. That is not going to help them. They want to know that they can still have time for their family and have extra money.
Who are you being when you work?
Those are the things you have to think about. It’s not just what’s the stress doing to you, but also how is it coming across to the people you are trying to attract to your business?
The last thing, I want you to think about when we are talking about being out of balance by working too much, not taking time for self care and family, is who are you being when you work?
Personally, I’ve really struggled with this earlier in this last week. This is why this is so important to me is because I found myself falling back into old habits this last week.
I found myself in lower productivity. And I must share with you in a moment what I did to overcome that.
But I had to also look at who I was being when I work. I came home so tired I was having trouble completing my sentences. I couldn’t complete full thoughts. I thought, well, I’ll take the night off. I did. I rested. Woke up the next morning. I was still really tired. I did not feel more rejuvenated. I did not feel like I was in a place to be my best. But I sat down to work anyway.
And what happened, when I was writing this week’s blog is I found myself like an hour in, still looking at the same sentences. And it does not take me that long to write a blog. So I was like, “OK, my brain is not there yet.”
I decided that I needed to do something for myself. So I went and took a nap. I don’t nap friends.
It’s so rare for me to do something like that, but I was tired and I had to honor my body.
I could not be who I wanted to be. I was not showing up as the six figure earner. I was not showing up as the high producer. I was not showing up as a top performer for my blog, for my coaching practice, for my business, for you guys on a podcast.
So you have to think about who you are being. If you were trying to work your business and you are not being your top self…. If you’re not being that higher version of yourself, the vision of who you want to be a year from now. If you’re not working like that person, then you are not going to have the results that person would have.
Does that make sense? I think it does.
So those are the things I found myself out of balance. So. Here’s what I want to talk about.
When you are out of balance, what to do? What to do and I cover this more extensively on how to prevent yourself from getting out of balance in my online academy, The Success Academy, where we’ll talk about things like block scheduling, the ways we can find the priorities, and look at what are your vital activities, and things like that. But just some quick tips for today, I’ll share with you what worked for me this week.
I was tired. I was coming home from full days, and then I was having guilt in the evenings. You see, I wasn’t spending time with my children because I thought I needed to be working. And then when I did sit down to work, I couldn’t find the productivity that was my norm. And I could tell! I could feel it.
The first thing I did is I slept. Friends, if you’re not sleeping good. Figure out what you need to do. There is a million blog articles, Pinterest articles and tips out there. Get some supplements, whatever you need to do to sleep, because if you’re not sleeping, you are not going to have the productivity that you want to have.
I made sure that I was in the best optimal state to make my podcast, to write my blog, to create social media, to email and to talk with the 15 people on my messenger that I have conversations going with. I made sure I was ready for that. And I didn’t try to do it when I wasn’t.
The next thing I did, friends, is I drove into some self care. I made sure instead of waking up and grabbing my laptop to start working. Even when I did finally feel like I was rested and ready to go, I took time for self care.
I took time to journal. I took time to listen to meditation. I took time to sit with my kids and watch them play and listen to them laugh because it restores my soul. I took time to go have dinner with friends because the the laughter and the joy in times with friends restores my soul. You are not going to hurt your business by doing things that restore you: Meditation, journaling, yoga, exercising, sleeping, family time.
The third thing I did this week is in those moments where I knew I didn’t have my best self to offer my clients and my audience.I took time for personal growth.
Now, I’m a big believer in personal growth, and personal growth is not a massive action thing. That’s not a vital activity to produce sales in your business. But it is a vital activity. To help you move into who you are trying to be.
You have to balance how much of it you do, I guess is what I’m trying to say. You can’t just be all personal growth.
But this week when I knew I didn’t have it in me to be as forefront as I normally am, and because I’m an introvert. I allowed myself to recharge quietly at home.
As a part of my recharge, I allowed myself some personal growth time. I allowed myself to do a little more reading than I normally do in a week. I allowed myself to watch a few more videos and online classes that I’m in than I normally do. I allowed myself to listen to one or two more podcasts, so that I still felt like I was getting a little bit of stuff. And it still kept me motivated. But it wasn’t to the point where I was being completely drained because I was doing some things to recharge myself and taking that time.
To watch that online course I was watching this morning and to take in some of those meditation practices I’ve done this week, brought me to a place where I’m back feeling like me. I’m back with a higher productivity than I’ve seen in weeks because I took the time to care for myself.
Friend, you can not unleash your success if you’re overwhelmed.
If you are a full time worker, with a nine to five alongside your business and family, then you’re wearing all the hats. You are basically Wonder Woman. Right. You just need gold bracelets.
Conclusion:
Friend. You have to make sure you’re taking care of yourself. Just like on the airplane. Put the mask on yourself first, then you can take care of everybody else. All right, my friends. I hope this helped you.

What people are saying….
I wasn’t sure what to expect when I had my first call with Angela. I’d had group coaching calls for programs that I was in before, but I’d never had a 1-on-1 call with a life coach. From the start, Angela and I hit it off, there was no awkwardness for either of us and, from my perspective I didn’t feel guarded at all (which isn’t typical for me).
We got to know each other a bit and then dove into the questions. Many of these questions are questions that I’d heard before, and some I’ve even asked myself and journaled on, but Angela knew just the right way to ask the next level of those questions to get things to “click”. In just an hour together I had so many take-aways and 2 pages of notes!!
I was literally holding back tears (the good kind) because I FINALLY felt a relief – or freedom – that I didn’t even know was missing. In the few days after our call, because of our call, I had some amazing breakthroughs that have already contributed to me leveling up in my life and my business.
If you’re stuck, if you’re spinning your wheels like I was, I recommend working with Angela. She not only knows the entrepreneurial life herself, but she’s got the credentials and knowledge on the coaching side of things to help you get through those limiting beliefs, set some big goals, take action to achieve those goals, and next-level your life.
