Friend, is this you?

  • Are you wondering if the long hours you are putting in are worth it because you are seeing little to no progress?
  • Do you feel rejected when reach out to prospects and only hear crickets?
  • Are you so stressed from the slow business that your moody and witchy with your family?

I remember feeling that way too!  What I wanted instead was to:

  • Work less hours, get more done and see major progress in my business.
  • I wanted to not only feel confident, but for others to see that confidence in me and be attracted to what I had to offer. 
  • I wanted to enjoy growing my business, while I actively lived a life I was passionate about.

So often people think that to make your dreams come true, you have to stick to your vision with a level of commitment like that of a toddler with a fresh lollipop.  What if that is keeping you from growing and reaching your team building goals?

I get it.  Everyone says that we just need to keep visualizing your dream team, working toward it, and it will happen. That’s easy to believe.   And sometimes it is true, but not all the time.  

If that were true all the time then everyone who visualized a large growing team and put the action in to their  business would reach the top levels of their company every time. We all know that’s not the case. In fact, if you keep holding this belief you could actually be slowing down your team building progress.

But you know how you can actually get you into the mindset of a top team builder when business has been slow? 

Revisit Your Vision

Friends, I always suggest my clients revisit their vision when times are slow.  This is because your vision is your line of sight to the future. If you can’t see where you are going, why would anyone follow you.  

Fifteen years ago, my husband and I build our home. We customed how we wanted it.  From the floor plan, to the size of the rooms, we chose it all. However in that place, the person I was then, was different from the person than I am now.  

Then, I didn’t have children. I wasn’t looking at the vision of having big family dinners at holiday times.  I didn’t have the vision of weekend guests, when all the bedrooms were full of kids.  

That wasn’t the place I was in at that time. So we built our home and over time the vision of what I wanted changed.  

What I noticed…

I started to notice things like the dining room being a little too small, so I couldn’t fit the big long farm table I now want.  Now instead of romantic, newly wed dinners, I dream of grand dinners surrounded with family and friends while we shared bottles of wine and yummy food. 

The House I would build today would be different.  How I organized and designed my home then was based on my mindset at the time.  It was based on how I wanted my life to be at that time.  

It was my husband and me.  We didn’t need anything else. We were living on love.  You know one sink in the bathroom seemed like a good idea at the time. 

However, 15 years down the road how I want to live has changed.  How I would organize my home now is different. I would love more office space for example, or a bigger dining room, or double the pantry space. Those kinds of things change. That’s why people upgrade to different homes.

And I want to put this out there friend.

The vision you have for your business is the same.

Sometimes things change. And if you are struggling with your business or if you are having a hard time meeting that next level, go revisit your vision.  Get clarity! Vision is going to give that clarity.

It’s your line of sight to your future. It’s your line of sight to success.

So if you don’t have that you’re going to struggle.

Vision is the foundation of high performance. If business is slow you need to look at your vision.  

Friend, you create things 2 times.

  1. mentally
  2. physically

Biggest challenge to high achievement is not the physical manifestation of the dream. The strongest barrier that an entrepreneur experiences is the mental creation of the dream.  

If you can’t even imagine yourself achieving your goal, doing the work to get there or even getting started, well friend…. it is not going to happen.  That is why when you don’t have a clear vision you will struggle.

The vision pitfalls that typically stop growth are:

1. You stop visualizing or forget which causes a lack of focus

When we stop visualizing our focus becomes more vague. This will lead to making choices that don’t support us and help us grow as much as other choices.  It leads to overwhelm and uncertainty.  

The opposite is true too.  If you are certain of where you are going… you have a vision, then your choices are going to be aligned and supportive of what you want to accomplish. 

2.  Out of Alignment – Your journey has lead you to change and you are still pursuing a vision that doesn’t match who you are now.

This can happen to any of us.  When you are on a growth journey with your business, it is very easy to outgrow your vision.  What can happen is when you begin to mature, change limiting beliefs, and become the person that is a high achiever, if you don’t revisit your vision as you grow, then you might find yourself out of alignment.  

Or Vice versa is true as well. Perhaps you have a vision but you were not doing the personal growth.  You’re not getting rid of the limiting beliefs, so who you are being when you work doesn’t match person that you need to be to reach that vision. 

3.  Your actions don’t support your vision  

Similarly, we can have the actions that don’t support our vision.  This is most often the case we have limiting beliefs or some type of mindset issue is keeping us from putting action into place that will help us propel our business forward.

I think of this as doing busy work versus taking massive action.  The basic example could be checking email versus holding a client call. Yes of course checking emails apart of business, however it is not an action it is going to support large scale growth.

These pitfall are easily avoidable, if you take the time to review you vision and keep your clarity focused and up front.  

It’s not hard to revisit your vision friend all it takes is a few minutes of meditation, journaling, talking it out, and asking yourself the right questions.

I always suggest my client start with closing your eyes and picturing where they want to go.  And then we dig deeper. I ask the questions of why they want to go there, what is it they want to get from that vision, who are they going to be when they reach that goal.  

All of this together helps paint the picture of who they need to be, what they plan to do, where they plan to go, and how they plan to get there.   

So, I tell you this my friend in hopes that:

  • if your business is slow
  • if you’re not adding new team members
  • if you’re not getting a sales
  • if you aren’t having people follow you as a leader

….then it is time to go back to the basics and look at your vision. Get some clarity!  Because friend if you don’t know where you’re going why would a team following you.
